Gundam Epyon "The Hydra" Week 3

For this week,i've been working solely on the body as i got tired of sanding the wings.Sometimes, its best to change and work on something else, this helps me from getting burnt out.

Basically what i did was the same as my deathscythe hell, drawing the panel lines, adding rivets and pla plates,so i won't talk about those.

I did some modding to the ankle,to make the parts separable even after i cement them together and removing the seam line. How i went about doing so is rather simple and most of you should already know this. After i cement the 2 red parts and removed the seamlines,I drew a wide panel line right in the middle.Make sure the line is deep and use a hobby knife to cut in between the panel line and separating the 2 parts. Now,i can paint the red parts and the inner frame separately.

Most kits' ankle are like this, and if you do not want a panel line in the middle, you can draw 2 parallel panel lines on the sides and cut 1 of those right through to separate the 2 parts. After painting, the panel lines will look like its part of the design and the ugly seamline will be gone.

I wish i got more examples and photos to show, but i kinda got lazy...

The next thing i did is also a mod to clean up the seamline on the claw.First,i cut out the portion that is highlighted in black.Next, cement it onto the other part of the claw and putty the gaps. And the unpleasant seamline is gone.I hope the pictures will explain the steps better than i do...Haha...

And for all the joints,i sanded the black portions down so that they won't rub against other parts and scratch the paints off after painting.Even when the parts aren't touching each other after priming,it is likely that they will after painting because paints will add to the thickness of the surface.
Arm frame(Left),Leg frame top portion(Right)

For additional details, other than the rivets, panel line and pla plate,I added pipes underneath the shoulder to enhance the look of the inner frame.

I was thinking whether i should combine the 2 shenlong weapon and make it into the EW version,or use epyon's sword as the main weapon. What i don't like about the sword is the guard,it looks too small compared to the huge beam.So i went to test fit the fin onto the side of the guard,so as to extend the width and make it look bigger. The fins fit pretty nicely to the side,so i hope after some modifications i can make them movable so that when the beam is not activated,i can close the fins.

I'm going to mod the boomerang from destiny gundam into spikes for the wing. Here is the basic design for it.

I'm sorry for the wordy post, but i hope that some of the mods i explained can be of help to those who are just starting out gunpla.Thats all for now,see you guys on the next update:)

MG Gundam Deathscythe Hell "The Devil" WIP part 7

Well, this week was really tiring for me.I don't know why but i think my interest is running out. This was what i'm afraid of before i started this kit, because there were other times when i completely stop working on a halfway done project.Last year was also like this,I was working on a competition piece and when i'm 1 month away from the due date,I stopped working on it because i felt tired and couldn't get my ass to work.Hopefully i can get my interest back and finish this.

But no worries,I haven't stop completely, maybe just slowing down.So there is still some new stuff to show you guys this week. The painting of the body is almost done, just need to paint the frame tomorrow.

By the way,did you guys notice that one part of the wing was not symmetrical?I only notice it last week when i was priming it.LOL...Anyway,i have already corrected it and i even make it look better by widening the upper portion. Before this,i always thought that it looked weird because it was just too thin. What do you guys think?Better?
 Old
New

I added some epoxy to lengthen the back of the scythe and sanded it to a shape that i like.I think this gave it a better look because the back was kind of short for a beam that long. After that,I did some detailing to the scythe with chains and rivets.I will add some styrene strips and panel lines later.

And lastly,I have recast 8 pieces of the tail which i think is enough, but they needs a hell lot of cleaning up.So that means more sanding...I really think that this is what making me lose interest...What to do?...

So lets hope that there will be another update.Off to more sanding:(

Thoughts on upcoming Gundam anime series "GUNDAM AGE"

Ok,my first thought when I saw this magazine page was "another gundam builder?".The 3 guys in the picture look so young, and the guy with the yellow coat is holding a controller sort of device, which make me think that its a gundam game type of story like gundam builder. But it is actually about a hundred year old war.
Truth be told,I was kind of disappointed, because the gundam in the picture isn't what I imagine it would be and somethings tells me that the story won't be as deep compared to some of the old gundam series.Of course, all this may change when more information about it comes out.
The story is about three generations,"father, child, and descendant" as the lead characters. The main characters pilot the Gundam unit to fight against an unknown attacking enemy (UE) and save Earth in a "One Hundred Year War" — an apparent homage to the One Year War of the first Gundam series.
The first main character is Furitto Asuno, who developed the Gundam AGE-1 mobile suit (humanoid mobile weapon) equipped with the AGE System (a self-adapting computer). The second main character is Asemu Asuno, Furitto's child. The third main character is Kio Asuno, Furitto's descendant who inherits the Gundam. The Gundam AGE-1 can be augmented as the Gundam AGE-1 Titus for more power, or as the Gundam AGE-1 Sparrow for more speed.
The AGE system is basically haro from gundam 00 and the gundam being augmented into different forms reminds me of liger zero from zoids.
Hopefully, more news will be coming our way and let us get a more detailed look at this series. The series will begin fall 2011,so look forward to it!
